LOL - So I guess any intonation issues would be sorted out by the stopbar. Do you find any difference in sound with stop vs trapeze? That's the only trapeze style guitar I've ever had so I really had nothing to compare to. I thought the sonic differences between the trap and stop Elvins (when I had both) were pretty minimal - perhaps a tad more sustain with the stop and a touch more airiness with the trap - and I can't emphasize enough how much I like the pickups in both of those axes.

I'd say adding the studs in a semi is REALLY not for the faint hearted. I did it on a solid body 2259 and the centers of the holes need to be dead on or your scale gets completely wrecked (this thread viewtopic.php?f=26&t=5661&hilit=2259).

Was your luthier able to determine anything about the weird neck blotches? I'm very curious about that. Anyway, it looks great and I hope you enjoy it.

Jead, I included on my MySpace site(http://www.myspace.com/bigmansband)what I hope is a better picture of the bridge in it's current state. I asked the tech not to do anything to the bridge, but when he put it back after the woodwork, he put it on backwards. I'm going to loosen the strings and reset it, play it for awhile and let you know how it goes. The nut was cut a bit weirdly so with the bridge in it's original position, intonation should still be good. I did find the trap tailpiece to be a bit more airy. The tech couldn't figure out the blotches either. I will say the actual install of the stop tailpiece is pretty da...rn good. The pickups are AMAZING!!! to my ears, and I do feel lucky. The guy who did the work, John of starguitars.net(Shrub Oak, NY) is pretty knowledgeable guy. He did a headstock repair job on my Orville by Gibson Les Paul that is invisible and flawless. Well I'm ready to change the bridge; here goes!

Well, I've put the bridge back in it's regular position. But now it's something else. I saw some 'schmutz' under the
pickguard. So i took it off to clean it. If you'll go to my MySpace site(http://www.myspace.com/bigmansband/phot ... tos/557630), you'll see what I found. Is that a piece of rug stuck to the pickguard with double-sided electrical tape? Why? Why are there little pads on the tailpiece? Every step on this guitar is another mystery. Maybe I'm obsesseing........a little. Maybe I'll just play more guitar. Yeah, that's it.

Looks like a strip of cloth to me, maybe microfiber? That, and if there were pads on the tailpiece, sounds like they're just there to protect the finish from getting scratched.

That is correct. The pads are there to keep the metal parts from rubbing into the finish and I would guess also help with keeping the vibration noise down also.
