A friend of mine played my electra 2242 super rock and has decided he wants a "les paul". I've been looking for him for a while, and I came across this ad. Has anyone had any experience with this guitar model? The price is pretty good

The Aria and Aria Pro models are very nice guitars. The pro line has excellent craftsmanship and are superior quality. The Aria models are also great quality so it's hard to go wrong. This one is a set neck model so it should be a nice player. I prefer the older Aria and Aria Pro models that were made in japan by our beloved Uncle Matt but the newer more modern Aria models are not bad either.

The Aria name has been in production for a looooong time. I agree with Arthur that the Japanese made models are more desirable than the later Korean (Indonesian?) made models. I'm not an Aria authority, but that one looks pretty old to me.

Request a picture of the back of the headstock. Matsumoku had a very distinct serial number font that would verify it that it was made in Japan (usually six or seven digits, big font), whereas the Later Korean serial numbers are much smaller and usually like ten or eleven digits long.

I don't have another pic, but we found out the serial number is 128018 which seems correct :)

My friend is going to go ahead with trying to buy this guitar. Thanks for your comments! This should be an excellent intermediate guitar for him. He plays acoustic but this would be his first electric.
