On another note about pups... was Dimarzio an option for Electra guitars, like the super distortion? A buddy of mine has an Electra LP model and he says it's all original, and I him that a Dimarzio is not original for his guitar, he believes that it is... I'm not so sure as of yet.... Maybe the experts here can shed some light on it.

I have seen MANY sellers claim that Dimarzios are stock, and a MMK with allen head adjustments can look a lot like a dimarzio, so maybe they just don't know any better.

MMK's came in many styles, one row of screws, two rows of allen, one Bar and a row of allens. I can say after owning a number of pickups marked '45', that they definitely evolved over the years. There's a guy with a picture of a MMK45 in a Westone Bass (stock) on the Westone site.

I don't think Dimarzio was an option on Electra instruments.

I think some people get confused by the fact that Aria Pro 2 had optional Dimarzios on many models. Since there can be a bit of overlap in hardware/build it's easy to assume Electra may have offered them too. I have yet to see any evidence of that personally so I'm thinking they never offered them on any models.

Thanks for the input guys... I suspected that they weren't options for Electra, I had never heard that or after research on the net could find any valid evidence to back that claim up... my buddy has owned this guitar since the 80's, but he bought it used, he may be a little bummed to hear this...he'll get over it lol.

They may have been put in at the time of purchase by a pro. It would look original.
