Hello everyone, throughout my 11 years of guitar playing I was always amazed by the awesome detail of a Gibson Les Paul guitars, recently my good friend showed me this awesome Electra LP replica, I was sold. Especially since i paid 1/15th of the price of an actual Les Paul. But I have no idea what model it is and what year it was made and how much it actually is worth. Please take a moment to study this and let me know what you know about this guitar. I did the pickup swap and added a few things like the pick guard but other than that its the way I have purchased it.

it's a Model 2249 Super Rock.

Made somewhere from '76/'77 thru at least '81

there's no way to get it any tighter datewise than that. the older ones would have had either the Gibson style open book headstock, or the modified "Cut-out" openbook headstock...

I concurr and agree. The wave headstock is made by matsumoku and quality is very high. The original pickups were great but the emg pups should add a more modern sound. This was on great guitar and every bit as good a player as the LP models of the same time period. nice score and enjoy the world of Electra.

Would the 1980-81 Super Rock have a stamped s/n or still have the foil sticker?

Actually this was made by Kasuga, and was one of several models they made for us. Nice quality guitars and hard to tell from the Matsumoto products from Matsumoku and Fuji.

Thank guys that is a lot of info. I'm really happy with this guitar, it def. feels like its one of the kind and the playability is high quality. I absolutely love this guitar. How much do you guys think this guitar would be worth, pups are EMG ZW series plus just added black knobs which look awesome, cleaned the the entire thing and all metal components look brand new, just curious, how much would you give for it .

this is the sales history from ebay through August 2012... In my opinion, the market is a bit soft right now for most Electras (except some of the rare models, and the semi-hollows....

1/30/12 LP 2249 Super Rock Natural Curly Maple $550.00
3/27/12 LP 2249 Super Rock Natural Curly Maple $400.00
4/22/12 LP 2249 Super Rock Natural Curly Maple $330.00
7/1/12 LP 2249 Super Rock Natural Curly Maple $560.00
7/12/12 LP 2249 Super Rock Natural Curly Maple $550.00
8/9/12 LP 2249 Super Rock Natural Curly Maple $405.00

I believe most were all original with case... if you still have the original pickups it would help. generally swaps don't help pricing on these...

Hopefully you still have the original pickups, would definitely be worth more as original if your intent is to sell-EMG's are not everyone's cup of tea, especially in a vintage guitar. That being said,Gilmore has done some amazing things with his EMG loaded strat-better to get the Electra back to original and sell the EMG's separately-just my 2 cent's. Proendorser has posted Electra ebay sales for several year's of auctions, excellent for price guidelines.
Joe

Yes i do have the original pickups and possibly the case too but the case is in a really bad condition on the inside since it went thru a lot over the years. here is a photo of this guitar when i purchased it.

and this is what i think will be the finale for this guitar, i really like the black knobs and trying to find the pups rings in black but there is a slight curve to these so its hard for me to find them so i might as well plasti dip the current cream ones.
