Can anyone help me with posting a large high quality image of the 60s Electra logo? It is the one used on the Hagstrom II copy. Also if anyone has this particular guitar I'm in need of a photograph of the wiring. I'm restoring one for my nephew and I'm having a hell of a time because it is missing the 2 switches above the volume/tone controls. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

I have a Hagstrom II type Electra guitar and bass. I will try and help with some pictures. It might take a few days as I am kinda tied up with a few projects as well as a crazy 3 year old. What color (we know of red and sunburst as 2 confirmed colors for these) is the one you are restoring? Info on these pre-catalog PCM Electras is very scarce. I had some pictures posted in a thread in here, but I just found out the hosting service is no longer having my files there. I will have to post them again.

There also was a couple of pictures we took at Electra Fest 2012 of the inside of my sunburst one. We were trying some contact cleaner to get the old bird running. You can search in the members area for these pics, you might see what you need to see in the pic. My sunburst is in really great shape physically, but 40 + year old wiring / switches don't always want to cooperate.

Awesome! It is the red burst with dark edges. The body was really knicked and scratch and the badge was missing so I had no idea who made it. I'm a Hagstrom collector and I bought it based on the fact it looked just like the Hagstrom IIs I have. Had I known it was one of the rarest of Electras I would not have stripped the finish but what I've done thus far is pretty nice. At least I think it is. The only things missing are the 2 switches and plate that goes over the top of the pickguard. The tremolo was not complete but I had an extra tremor I replaced it with. I'll post some pics soon.

I can't wait to see yours. I've just discovered Electras and like the bug I caught with Hagstrom I'm starting to get for Electras.

Thanks. I'm real happy with the way the color turned out. I wound up using RIT clothing dye. So much easier to work with than standard wood stain. Much more versatile. I wound up taking some paint thinner to the headstock and redid the logo badge smaller and more like the original style. Re-posted some photos in the link.

Those look great! They look brand new. Are these Hagstrom copies worth more than the other being that they are some of the oldest and from what I've gathered more rare?

These copies are not that expensive. I paid about $150.00 for the bass and a little less for the guitar. The guitars come up once in a while on ebay but I have only seen the 1 bass that I purchased locally off Craig's List. The guitar tends to be less desired because of the weaker electronics with the pickups tending to be more microphonic and the switches which always seem to be hinkey. The one thing that someone brought up once on the forum was that the laminated necks might possibly have been produced at the Matsumoku factory, but that is unconfirmed. They are nice in that the body construction is a solid piece of mahogany, but some other parts of the construction is not on the level of later offerings. Of the 2 that I own, I like the bass better. It plays well, the pickups are not as microphonic as the guitar, and I liked the sound and feel that it had with the flat wound strings that came on it when I got it. I have kept replacing the strings with flat wounds since. The bass was gigged in a country western band for many years then sold to the guy that I bought it from. Very little wear for a bass that was gigged for so long.
