I am looking to create a database/spreadsheet of all of the 60th anniversary of SLM models Electra produced. Could anyone who has one or more of these post or PM me with the following details about the guitar they are associated with: model number, model color, S/N on the anniversary plate & S/N on the guitar (if applicable). I am going to try and do some detective work by charting serial numbers etc. to see if I can figure out how many, what kind and so on. I wonder if Tom Presley has any recollection on this subject?

I have been interested in this since I picked up my x135C and recently I saw an ancient post by ProEndorser that spoke of creating a serial number database. I guess that database will be a later project after this one gets rolling. Thanks.

I've been putting serial numbers in the sales spreadsheet when they're available.

Check the tab that says Strat style for many of the 60th models.

What I really want to put together is a interactive Electra Registry. Somewhere that owners could post pictures, information, stories, etc. I'm wary of a Google shared spreadsheet as somebody could potentially get in there and change or otherwise delete entries... but maybe there are some safeguards that I'm not familiar with.

There are a few 'Anniversary' models that have both the Brass plate and the stamped serial number on the headstock. Typically these are late 1981 (like November and December of 1981) builds. It probably took a four to six weeks to ship the guitars over from Japan, so this does make sense. The Brass plate was more than likely installed here in the states, but don't quote me on that. The majority of the ones I've taken note of do not have a seven digit stamped serial number on the headstock, so SLM probably requested Matsumoku leave them off for the 1982 product line.

I find nothing unique or different about the Anniversary models, save for the $2 plate on the back of the headstock. I think this was purely a marketing scheme. I haven't seen enough of them to determine how many were issued, if numbers were reused, so in that sense it would be interesting to start gathering data. Good luck Ron.
