Hello all,
Just picked up my first Electra today, an X250, but it's been gutted and modded. Plays fantastic as it is but I'll be wanting to return it as close as possible to original, I think. Figure this is the place to go for help and advice.

The Bad : missing active EQ, original pup's, and all 3 toggles, missing brass bridge(?).

The Good : Original tuners are there and work great, Brass nut is there, Neck and frets are in excellent condition, Body is banged up a bit but solid, Pup's replaced w/ Seymour Duncan '59 PAF's (could of been worse), it plays like butter and absolutely screams!

The Best : I only have $75 in it.

Whoever modded it put in a Lee Jackson Mr Fuzz wired to a push/pull pot, and the battery to a kill button. Gotta admit.....the Mr Fuzz is a blast!

So I'll be looking for parts and hoping to learn all I can from you folks about these great guitars. By the way, this is my 6th MIJ so yeah, I got the GAS.......

Well, just did a bit more research online and maybe this is not an X250. The back looks like a X960 Ultima. Soon as i figure out how to post pics I'll let you guys decide.

You can't beat the price you paid for that set neck. It looks like someone crafted a new panel for the MPC cavity in the back. It should not be screwed on, but hinged with a closure button that is also missing. It is too bad that it is gutted of all of the MPC electronics, but they might be easier to find replacements for it than the electronics for an x250. It has some nice grain in that wood. It is not as extreme as some of the Ultimas that we have seen. Some of them can be almost obnoxious with the grain. Thanks for sharing your pictures and welcome to the forums.

Agreed that it is indeed the X960 MPC model. The active card for the other is almost impossible to locate but the MPC harness and switches are much more available. This one could be converted back with some work for certain. Great deal at that price and will be worth the cost to restore. Good Luck and we have a few members here that can help with the MPC harness and restoration. At least this model did not have the 5 way selector which is a beast to wire. Good Luck.

Welcome to the board, and Congrats, thats a steal even in it's modified state. That is (or was...) a X960 Ultima made in April of 1980, sixth guitar stamped that month from the serial number. Some of the early ones like yours were made from a sandwich of woods front to back, and can be heavier than the later ones. If you like the way it sounds, I'd keep it as is! You could spend a couple hundred bucks finding the original parts, and a weekend cussing at the soldering iron to make it semi original (the 5 way rotary has like 17 connections!). We rarely see these in stock form go for more than $450 or $500. I think you did real good, Mike.

Thanks guys, it was advertised as a 250 and looked like one so I just assumed it was. Until I noticed the area for the modules and looked further online.
I'm not going to try to put it back to all original. I will try to pick up an original set of pup's and brass bridge, though. It really is fun to play with the Mr Fuzz so will probably keep that mod.
I think I'll post an ad in the parts section to see if anyone here has a set of pups or bridge before going EBay.
Bottom line....... What a great playing guitar. I'm hooked and will definitely be on the prowl for more!!
