Looking to buy a working order 5 way switch for an Electra Omega. I'll pay going market price for it.

Thanks in advance

The first one here should do the trick http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics ... tches.html

You may also want to try cleaning the contacts on your switch and checking that you have no bad solder joints.

When I first got my X910 Derringer I noticed something was not quite right with the sound on both positions one and five. After heating up contacts and replacing the lackluster (non stock) bridge pickup it still didn't sound right to me. So I took off the pickguard one more time and sprayed the 5-way switch with Caig DeOxit and it was like night and day. The out of phase sound was obvious now, and position one (in series) had that subtle boost that I was used to.

Before desoldering the many contacts on yours, I suggest trying some DeOxit on there. The design is open, and very susceptible to dirt and crud. It could save you an afternoon of cursing with the soldering iron! Good luck, Mike.

Thanks for the tips! But if I bought a new one, is there a schematic for the wiring of the switch?

I don't know about a schematic but I do know of a member here who could in all likelihood sketch one out for you if nobody else knows of one.

The man the absolute bomb as it pertains to all things electronic concerning guitars. If nobody can find one in the next fews days I'll ask him nicely if he would lend a hand.

Here is a link to a basic schematic for a dual-humbucker, 1V, 1T w/5-way rotary switch.

I'm not certain how helpful it will be since it doesn't take into account the coloring throw switches on an Omega... but it is a start I suppose.

Just make a scetch and put them back where they were.

Here is a thread which has a couple of color coded diagrams specifically for the MPC and 5 way rotary:

Hopefully it is pretty similar to the Omega..?
