Hard to tell by the pic if a knob is missing or if it's a switch. Never seen a pick guard on one before either.http://www.vintageguitars.net/products/ ... =108703701

They say is an x960

That is a X280 Workingman model there. The pickup rings have been painted white, the pickguard added and yes, it's missing the Bridge pickup tone knob. It looks too glossy to me, perhaps its been polyurethaned also. While these are good instruments for the money (usually in the $200 - $275 range unmodified), they are not on the same level as a X960 Ultima, which would be a set neck model with the MPC Electronics. In their defense, there are seven different slab bodied one and a half cutaway models, so these are often mis identified. A lot of the time they are grouped together as "Workingman" guitars. Great vid. I've seen it quite a few times actually. I like the simplicity of the x260(coil tap, less knobs). How does it sound compared to the active x250?. Or the pro endorser for that matter? I recently scored an x1pw which I absolutely love! $329 at guitar center in tacoma.

I also have a super rock cherry burst. I wish I could combine the 2 guitars into one. I wish the super rock had the neck and the coil split of the x1pw. I imagine some of the x200's might be that way? I think I'd rather have one badass guitar instead of 5 pretty cool ones.

The white Futura holds a special place in the hearts of most 'Pointy' guitar lovers, well balanced and with its striking looks.
Sounds like you should try out an Endorser when you can, although they don't become available that often.

You ask about the X250 and X260 Invicta, which coincidentally are the three Electra's I use live (with the X935cs). I've had the pickups waxed in them so they can be used at live volumes, if my Drummer insists on me bringing a Vibrato guitar, I take my trusty Charvel Model 4 with a Floyd Rose. The X250 and X260 have the same neck profile and smooth heal design, and I'm very comfortable with them. The Invicta is laid out simpler and sounds pretty much the same, bonus points if you can find an early one (made before June of 1980) as they have Mahogany bodies AND necks! They weigh at least a pound less than the later Maple/Ash versions, and there is just something really nice about a Mahogany Neck.


One of the cool things about Electra's is that you can have a whole wall full of 30+ year old guitars for the price of a single (usually beat to cr@p, or worse modified) American made vintage guitar. Tell us when you find a good one, and we'll keep our eyes peeled for an Endorser for ya! Mike.
