Well it came today, and it works, both modules and all it needed was a 9 volt batt clip attached. Frets are great and its not in bad shape. Nice sound not so loud and looks like 50K volume pot.

i have found that about 30% of top has come unglued, working on the problem. Next will be cleaning the top and headstock then replacing both mpc switches

The top is coming off or is it just the binding is suffering from shrinkage and separating? My 950's binding is terrible. I would not expect the top to be loose. My binding has shrunk a lot, and separated. It also has a lot of finish chipping at the neck joint (the seam where the body meets the neck). The more I try to make it look better the worse it looks Sometimes things work out sometimes they don't. But I have the binding glued back down and the gaps somewhat filled in. I need some brown to hide the work I did on the neck joint. I just noticed that my neck pickup is the right pickup, but likely the bridge version (spacing is all wrong). I may put a lower output pickup in the neck of mine to better match the position as the MMK45 is a HOT pickup for the neck position. It sounds FANTASTIC in the bridge though.

The MPC switches are a 70s fog light switch from Radio Shack. You can find them there, most stores have them. If you take yours with you you can match it up. If one store is out, another will have them. Get those pots changed out to the 500Ks. The MPCs should be 150K, so make sure those are correct and haven't been swapped out. You can get the wiring diagram on this site, but you probably already have it. So good luck, keep up the good work.

Thanks for the info, I got the switches from radio shack and got the electrics working just by adding a 9 volt connector to pin 2 and ground jack.
Its definitely the top that is separated not just the binding which lucky is still glued to the top well. Both pickups are original but both rings were broke and one on backward. what the hell got those on order which are found out the hard way they are not epiphone size.

As soon as the right ones come in ill try it out and see if I think I want to change the pots.

Well I got all the loose top joints fixed and polished the top, I painted the pointer black. Going to change the switches today and replace the connection wires with cloth I did this on my 310 and know it added some high end/. Ill post some pics later.

Thanks a lot, I didn't do much to the 310 except take off the pick guard and change the bridge to a Gotoh and set up the intonation with seams to still be off on the G string
The 940 has been the real project good thing is that its mostly original and frets are really good shape. As well as the top and head stock the back has some really nasty belt rash but I think it add character and will leave it. Got the new mpc switches in and working, a big relief. They do seam very stiff was thinking of putting a drop of fret board oil in each one.

I do have a concern with both guitars. I presently have the truss rods nut loose on both and well I do have just the right amount of relief with 11 gauge im wondering if this is a real problem.

well, the relief isn't a problem right now, so that much is good. I would at least make sure the truss rod is snug so it does not rattle. Figuring out a noise like that will make you go nuts (rattle from a truss rod). It might settle and you might have to tighten it later. On the bridge if you have one of those gotohs with the extra adjustment in it (slightly wider) and it still isn't enough and your nut slots are not way too high (that would cause problems), consider replacing the nut with an earvana shelf compensated nut. There are two colors, and two widths. Go with the non-adjustable fixed shelf nut - the one that is closest to the width. They are listed for Gibsons. I think you can also get them through ESP. That will flatten out your bridge compensation. I don't have them on all my guitars, but they are fantastic on the ones I do have them on. They are pre-slotted, so they are easy to install. Don't get the type that slides, those are a pain.

Also, occasionally I have had a new string out of a pack be bad and try as you may, you can never seem to intonate it. It does not happen often, but it can happen.

I actually compensated the nut myself with a fine dremel bit. Helped and this is the second set of strings since I got and both sets did the same thing. The rest of the stings are very close. The 940 seams to have much less of issue but I didnt really test it much before the renovation. the 310 has a plastic nut which i assume is original, I am planning on changing it when I figured out if I was keeping both guitars. Here is a nut im looking at, the earvana's I looked at didn't have the G compensation it needs.

Just messaged a seller of the earvana and he doesnt know why no G compensation, thats the only string im having a problem with. Funny thing a friend of mine has the same problem on a new mim Strat

Probably thee coolest looking guitar I've ever seen! That binding is so sweet. Never seen tortoise shell binding before! Wow!
