I thought we had sound clips on the old version of the page? I don't recall. This post is full of my personal opinion on how these modules sound, and we all know everyone's opinion is different. But maybe this can help you put a frame around how these modules operate. I didn't look to see who was selling it. I have no connection to these.

The filter follower is the real winner of those in my opinion. Electra had two versions of this, and this is the better second version (my opinion). The earlier version was an epoxy brick version but sounded similar - but didn't have the switch to reverse the effect - and that is kind of useful to me giving you a whole new range of sounds. If you are familiar with that concept is - it sounds sort of like a wah pedal that is being moved according to how hard you attack the note - so it "wahs" when you attack the note. The sensitivity to the attack is adjustable on the MPC pot in front of the guitar. There is a sort of reverse mode too that is like lifting up on the wah pedal according to how hard you hit the note. Very cool in my opinion. Some of the new current versions of this type of effect pedal don't sound nearly as good to me. I think this one is one to buy if you like that filter follower or auto-wah type of effect (auto-wah in the sense that most floor pedals or modelers call this sort of sound - in this circumstance, a wah effect controlled by the note's attack).

This is not to be confused with the Electra "Auto Wah" MPC module though, which operates like a wah wah pedal traveling up and down at an adjustable speed and sort of has a tremolo/vibrato sort of effect to it - that is a different pedal. That one I was a bit disappointed in but it is highly collectible because it is quite rare - maybe the rarest of the modules along with the compressor that was added sometime later as the 12th module. Your results may vary and you may like it a lot - especially if you like to do a lot of rhythmic sweeps on your wah pedal. It would save you the ankle wear and tear and leg burn, and will keep you from wearing out the pot on your prized wah pedal. It can do a nice vibrato sort of effect, and the pot controls the speed of it. But I personally like the phaser sweep sort of sound a lot better.

The octaver is nice too. Ever use an old brown Boss Octaver pedal? It is a cool effect, but it only synchs to one note and it does not quite track as well as the old boss stand-alone pedal - but the effect is very similar and they are of a similar era. Certainly it was very innovative for its time. It can really thicken up single notes and when doing "volume swells" or using an ebow and can almost sound like a cello or violin (check out Phil Keaggy if you want to know what I am talking about for this technique). Pretty cool, but current technology will get you a lot cleaner and more natural sounding note, and current technology can actually synch to multiple notes. The old boss pedal sounds similar but a little better too if you can find one. This is GREAT if you are a collector though, because that one is not easy to find.

Both of these modules look in stellar condition. Right now the price is a steal, but the auction isn't done yet. But these look really nice and will be worth whatever they bring (as long as they operate correctly). If I didn't have them and collected modules I'd go for them. If I didn't have the filter follower and was a "player" more than a collector, I'd go for that module too. Nice!
