I have brass now but string spacing is a little narrower than my other 300 mpcs. Any one ever replace the nut with brass?

I don't think you are going to find a brass nut that fits unless you get lucky on e-bay. Brass bar stock is pretty cheap and it is soft enough to be fairly easy to work with hand tools.

I put a heavy gauge set on my X935, the bottom E was too fat for the nut. I worked the string back and forth as a file to enlarge the nut slot, it worked great! Brass is soft enough to work like that, Workingman is right on.

Hi, I just bought a brass nut from NW Custom Guitars for a lp project that looks to be an exact replacement for a few of my Electras It was advertised to fit LP and Explorer type guitars. I found them on Ebay and paid 10.49 plus 2.00 shipping. Already slotted but usually you need to make some height adjustments . I use a set of small jewelers files to get the string heights to my liking. ....Neil
