I bought a 2258 SM on ebay a few years ago, it is the model with the open book headstock with the torch logo, and I suspect that the pickups are not original. Can anyone post pics of one that still has the originals in it? Thanks. Hope to make it up to the meet this July.

Welcome to the forum! There's a great community here... great stories, great information, great guitars.

The "Index of Models" page has lots of good info on most models. The 2258 page is here:

Thanks for the link. I had seen that pic before, which made me think my pickups weren't original. It looks like I need to hit the classifieds, and ebay. I am considering putting some covered Carvin S22 pickups in it if all else fails. It took me a little over 30 years to be in a position to be able to aquire my 2258, so I can take my time finding the correct pickups.

Thanks for the pics. Wow if it weren't for the cream pickups, I would think that was my 2258. Even the truss rod cover is warped the same. If those are the original pickups, then mine are not the right ones. The ones on mine sound like hammered junk , so I don't mind replacing them.

In my searches I have found two types of stock pickups on these models depending on the type of headstock and logo( and most likely the manufacturer) I have seen the cream style pickups like in the photo and I have also seen the chrome covered Humbucker pickups with the normal Electra inlay logo on the headstock. These were made from components from several Japanese manufacturers so not unusual to see a variation in components depending on when it was made. I believe the chrome covered pickups may be Maxon but not 100% certain. They are all great guitars and some are set neck models and some are bolt on necks so there is a difference there as well.

IS it possible that this one has 50K pots instead of 500K?
