hey guys, nice to meet y'all!

i'm Pat, 35, a swiss guitar player (and occasional bassist) living in the nice town of Cholula in Mexico.
i've owned one or two old Electras before, and just picked up this clean clean 2278 "R-style" bass yesterday.
wanted an old Ricky for years now but couldn't afford it, so i was thrilled to find this one. of course these bigger pups don't look like the real thing, but then again i'm a fan of these even rarer old MIJ copy guitars!

will post pics this weekend, so stay tuned!

i think i had signed up here some years ago, but i can't access with my usual "pacafeliz" username.
here's some pics of my old stripped electra 335 i sold some time ago. cool guitar, top quality build, but i'm a Fender guy...

(feel free to use these pics for the electra page or something, since it seems to be a quite rare model)

OK back to work. have a nice friday!

Pat.

Welcome back and thanks for the great pics. You'll find a few Rick owners here to converse with I'm sure. And the Electra name is back in production again so check out the new models.
The label seems to have a serial pattern to it, something i've not seen before. Thats cool. Again, thanks for the pic's. Waiting to see your 2278. Those are pretty cool just because of the look.

8) Very nice and thanks for the photos. I have the set neck stereo rick bass and I love it. Great tones, easy on the back and a head turner at gigs. Welcome to the forums.

Thanks for the pictures. I have the same 2278 Corsair that was my first Electra 33 years ago. From what I have discovered, I think ours were made circa 1974. I like that you still have the thumb rest and the string/pickup cover over the bridge pickup. These are missing on most of the 2278s. I do not have them on my bass currently, but I have them saved if I ever want to put them back on. Do you have the foil tag that was originally on the headstock? I would be interested in comparing the numbers to the one that I have.

That is not the serial number, but just the stamped model number in the neck plate. Some people removed the foil serial number sticker. I was lucky enough that the person who owned mine before me peeled off the sticker, but stuck it inside of the original hard shell case.

look, i found a nice partner for it!
it's ibanez branded, but i'd put my hand in fire that these were made in the exact same factory at the same time!
