I'm trying to identify my Electra Guitar. As far as I can tell it's a '72 Super Professional model 2229. However the inlays (appearing to be mother of pearl Xs) on the headstock and pickguard are not shown in the catalog that has the pictures that led me to this conclusion. Also the pics in the catalog show rectangle inlays on the neck and mine has dots. Any help would be appreciated. I'm not too sure how to post photos but have tried, and will share more when I'm able to.

Ok so I wasn't sure if I was posting photos correctly, here's another.

This looks like a PCM model (sister company to SLM who designed most of the Electras we talk about here). PCM models are not well documented. It will be hard to get a model number.

Thanks Workingman! Your information appears to be spot on. I found what I believe to be the model. PCM 335-V1. The photos that were listed showed the some guitars with subtle differences (to each other as well as mine)but similar enough that I believe it to be true. This guitar was given to me by a former employer and I would like to give it to a friend of mine, but if it's worth a significant amount I would prefer to keep it or sell it. Do you have any idea of what it might be worth?

The PCM hollow bodies should not be very expensive when compared to the high quality Terada produced semi-hollows from SLM. The quality on the PCM guitars and basses varied quite a bit, sometimes you get a good one but most are not on par with the SLM sold line. The pickups in the PCM models tended to be more microphonic, and these hollow bodies like yours have a weak neck joint. Where the SLM 335 style semis tend to run $750.00-1000.00, the people on the net that put the PCM guitars up for more than $200.00-250.00 do not garner much interest from buyers.

Thank you YYZ! I think I'll just give it to the young man as he's a guitar player that will appreciate it more than I do. Being a drummer, I have little use for it other than having something for friends to play when they come over. I do have another (cheap) guitar here that will serve that purpose well enough. All my guitar playing friends of course have their own (quality) guitars if we need to get into some serious jamming.
