Repaired headstock, but it broke at a different spot than the headstock/neck joint. For someone looking to add an x910, here it is at a buy it now price.

This one looks very original, most of the cosmetics could be addressed if you wanted to restore. No case, but you'd probably want a newer beefier case than what they came with originally anyway. Seller was nice enough to include a photo of the control cover removed, showing the factory incorrect value 50kohm volume and tone pots, which we're finding was not that uncommon. Has the correct 150kohm MPC effect pots.

Doesn't look like you can talk the seller down too much, but he does have the 'make offer' option for interested buyers. Looks like a really nice resto/player candidate.

I was really floored just to see one available. It is like seeing a white buffalo (well, one on crutches maybe).

But I have mixed feelings about them. I think the seller might be a little optimistic, but it IS really quite rare as you (and we) know. So this is definitely my subjective opinion. To a guy really jonesin' for one they might pay for it. I just have trouble paying more for one that has an UGLY headstock repair than I would for a real Gibson Explorer that is likely without a headstock in pieces and in good shape with case.

MPCs are my thing, I don't conceal that (they are what brought me here to begin with in the 90s). In fact some of the guys in this thread brought me into the 80s by opening my eyes to the Matsumoku/post-MPC era.

I am sure they are rare guitars - but seems like nearly every one I see has a headstock with a really bad repair. Maybe it is like the Leslie West too - those guitars are also usually beat to heck - but as rare as they are I still see more of those than the Derringer. Maybe people just played the sh!t out of them? I would have to pay BIG money to get that repaired correctly, and then I'd have an explorer copy with MPC with a repaired headstock. I mean, I LOVE my Leslie West and it was in the crummiest condition of all my guitars when I got it (as bad as this one for sure). But if I was serious about selling it I would know I could not get big dollars out of it either.

Oh yeah, an you guys know to me that playability is extremely important, so I'd immediately change those stock (but incorrect) volume and tone pots to current correct valued ones. Seems like lately I am doing every other one.
