Hi guys, I am new to the forum. Many years ago, late 70's , I was aquainted with our high school guitar hot shot, Ronnie Moran. In Houston Texas we had a lot of hotshots, but Ronnie had, "The stuff". Regardless of the stuff, Ronnie played on a Electra MPC Les Paul, unsure what model. It was beat to pieces and most of us scoffed at it, I mean it wasn't a Gibson , and if it wasn't well... it was no good right? LOL.
Well fast forward almost 35 years. I spent a lot of money on name brand this, and all the trappings to try and look cool. Well I never quite had any of those guitars that I really bonded with. I would have them for a while then poof, gone. Well last Saturday I was at a Mom and Pop store that I have not been in for quite a while. There I saw this beautiful semi hollow hanging behind the counter. It was an Elektra, that was all I knew. I asked to see it and man I am here to tell you I "Felt it", in spaids. I have owned semi hollows before, but not like this. I played it for every bit of two hours. It was vintage burst with a tree of life inlay. Tiger striped for days!! It was in perfect condition out side of a small pencil led ding on the back of the neck. The action was just incredibly low.
I talked to the opwner who said he believed it to be an electra 2267. His price was almost 1300.00, but he said he would be a little flexible on the price. Question is, is this a good price or not, what should I be looking for in regards to any defects. And where is an easy bank to knock over?

Hard to go wrong with a maple pro model. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is off the charts on these and as you found out the playability and tone is awesome. As for the price they are going up in value and are not seen as often as other models so that counts for something. At that price I would work for a lower price range from say $800-$1000 range but it all goes back to if you bond with it as well. If it feels great for you then to me that adds value as well. In all original condition and no major dings, scratched or problems I would stick to my guns at $800-$1000 range. Good Luck and if you score it be prepared to play it as it is a hard one to put down when you start playing it.
