Hi everyone.

Proud to be a new Electra owner. I happened to find a craigslist post for two things I'd always been interested in, a big ol' Kustom tuck and roll and an Electra LP. Both had the dust of the ages on them. The seller had been storing them in his basement for his brother for decades. I was a little underwhelmed by the sound at first; strings were probably 25 years old, nothing from the neck pickup, frets seemed a little small? But they were two things I'd wanted for so long and the price was right, so I did it.

Got home and set to cleaning the thing up, inside and out. Restrung, set it up, plugged it in and WOW. It played in a way that felt like I couldn't control it. The bridge pickup roars. After a basic cleaning, found the neck pick up now works intermittently. I have some DeOxit on the way, we'll see how that goes. I can't say enough for the neck and fretboard. Straight as an arrow, no significant wear, and very slick.

I think it's an early 2249 Super Rock. Like the one on this site but with original star tuners, black speed knobs, and a clear pickguard.

Look forward to spending many years with it. All hail Electra!

Very nice! I have one almost just like it except with black headstock and pick guard. Same slinky fretboard though. I use .10 strings on it. Anything lighter and it's too loose. Is it a bolt on neck like mine?

Yup, it's bolt on. I have 9s on it. Between that, the neck profile, and the lacquered maple fingerboard, it's pretty wild to play!

Welcome to the forum, Thats a great find. Those are some of the best looking LP's with the old style script, gibby style head stock and inlay, and the binding is super. The clear pick guard just says its to pretty to cover up. Congrats on a super find.
