Hello,

I'm new here and am seeking some help. I need to ID a guitar that was passed on to me from my godfather. He gave it to me after discovering he had terminal prostate cancer. Heavy stuff, I know, but it's makes my pursuit in finding information on this guitar that much more important. Check out the pictures. Is this a legit Electra? Any idea of it's rarity or worth? Images are hosted on imgur. Thanks guys!

That looks to be an early Apollo model or maybe an early PCM model.

We think the ones with the "X" on the headstock or the pick guard are from the PCM distributors. These hollow bodies are not worth what the later SLM semi hollow fetch online even though they might be rarer. These tend to go in the $200-300 range. These are also prone to having the neck pocket crack and collapse due to the design. The pick ups tend to be microphonic on these early Japan copies.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. This has been a haunting mystery for me for so long. I can finally sleep at night!
