Been wondering this, I *think* I remember seeing one (perhaps on of Arthurs...)

.... but were any Omega's produced with the notched headstock like this?

Yep they were produced with that headstock and yes I do have one. These were the early models and have the hollow compartment just behind the pickup and bridge area. Great players.

I have never seen a solid carved top Omega, only the pressed tops. I'd like to feel the difference one day. My X935 obviously is a solid top, but my X930, X240, and X230 are all pressed tops.

I am referring to the Omega's which are the LP copies, not the Omega's with the partial cutaway on the upper bout (when I say "I have never seen a solid top Omega).

There is a very noticeable difference in the weight of the early models and the later solid models. From what I understand the early cut out headstock models with the internal cavity were made by another Japanese manufacturer other than Uncle Matt as were many of the early models. The wave headstock models were all made by uncle Matt.

My Wave stock X240 does not have a solid top, it has the pressed top, and that's a Matt! If all Wave stocks are Matts, and therefore solid tops, then do I have an odd ball, is my X240 an anomaly or is it more common than we think?

Arthur, do any of your wave stock LP shaped Omega's have a solid top? Or a pressed top?!

Anybody have a confirmed date on the notched head stocks? They were in the 77 catalog along with the wave head stocks werent they. Kinda looked like they did the MPCs first and then the others, or maybe thats just what was finished at the time. What did you guys find out?

I'm still waiting on a confirmed Omega without the ply top!!! I've never seen one, all I've seen have had a "pressed" top of ply.
