Just got my pickguard from Tony at Pickguardian. It's very well done, looks better than the originals did.

I think I'll keep this Lace Sensor Pike set in, sounds great. Here she is, lovely guitar and plays oh so well. These Omega's may be my favorite Electra's to play.

I have to deal with the extra screw hole from the last owner. Should I shove a cut off tooth pick in there and stain it? Thoughts?

That's what I did when I put Grover tuners on mine. It's still pretty noticeable but it's on the back so I wasn't too worried about it.

That guitar is a beauty. Lovely thing. How do you like those lace pickups?

They are really nice, surprised me. Very full and dynamic, great bottom. They were made for doom or sludge metal, hence they are very hot, but they are surprisingly versatile and alive.

I came across a set of Dean USA pups that were in another guitar, loved them, and they were gold, so I replaced the Lace Sensors with the Dean USA's. They better suit the guitar, they look better and they're not as hot.

I got to visit the Dean factory where they make those - got to see them wind them. Never heard them though. The Deans that I used to own were shipping with duncans at that time. And the Korean ones I liked I put dimarzios in (weird combinations but they sound fantastic so no arguing with that).

I am USUALLY a bigger fan of more vintage output pickups, so I agree that was probably a very good move.

Jack my bro, Tony is so cool. He did a FANTASTIC job, better than WD Music did a couple years ago when they were making custom guards. I'm telling you, this is the nicest pick guard I've seen. Sounds weird to say that, but it looks perfect.



And the guitar with the dean pups...



Funny how just a pickup change can make these Electra's look SO Gibson.

Wonderful looking guitar, and bet it sound like a million bucks. I don't mind that it looks a little more "gibson" because it was a copy of a gibson and the only significant change (appearance) is the covered bridge pickup. It looks great. I love the looks of the blonde figured guitar with the maple neck and the black inlays - too cool.

Looks great. You did a really good job on those, I love the look of both. as for the screw hole, If you could take a very small dowel and shave it down to fit if you cant find one small enough. Clean up the hole to get rid of any fuzz where its smooth and dab some glue on and push it in flush, let it dry and color match with a touch up pen. You might find one small enough at Michaels or a hobby store like that. Same thing as pegging a stripped hole but you dont drill it back out. A dowel might color better than a tooth pick.

You would have to enlarge the hole to fit a dowel so I wouldn't think you'd want to do that. You could precut a toothpick to length and insert it but it's going to have end grain and never finish to be invisible. It will always look like a toothpick jammed in a hole.

Use a short length of toothpick that will bottom out and still be below the top's surface just as a plug. You can use a small center punch or one of the miniature screwdrivers that come in a set to push it in place. Since your top is maple, get a little scrap of maple (you can buy a maple dowel at your home improvement store for this) and sand it to create some maple sanding dust. Use standard sandpaper. not the black oxide wet or dry paper as the oxide particles will darken the maple dust. Mix it with a small amount of white glue to create a color match putty and pack it in the depression with a tooth pick and wipe clean with a damp cloth. Let it dry overnight and see how it looks. You put a drop of clear lacquer on it if it needs to be yellowed slightly (use a spray can and spray into the cap and flow it into the repair with a fine tip modeler's brush or buy both the brush and a small bottle of Testor's clear at your local hobby store for this.

I've done many fills like this on guitars including tuner screw holes from changed tuners and you can get very close to a perfect match this way.
