My observations: Truss rod cover is on in one photo, off in another... I can't guarantee that the bridge is stock, looks too wide to me, but that could be the photography. The strap buttons may have been changed, not a deal breaker. Pickups seem to be stock, and the rectangular case looks nice. $500 is very reasonable, and 600 to 700 is probably the new norm for this model. I think Tom Presley said that under 300 of these were made, so they have great potential to appreciate.

Questions to ask:

Are the push/pulls still functioning?

Any separation at the neck/body joint? (a slight gap is totally normal)

Any lifting of the Flame veneer top? (these guitars have a true maple cap, but the 1/64th veneer can lift up at edges)

Ask for close ups of the fretboard, these guitars had a dark stain applied to the rosewood (to appear like Ebony??) and the more the guitar has been played the more that dark stain gets rubbed off. Usually you'll notice that the upper frets are still quite dark, while the color is more of a reddish brown down by the nut where all the cowboy chords get played.

Did somebody snag it?

I have a guy in SF who can get a guitar for me.

Oddly enough, I've had to use him four times. Why did so many Electras go to SF?
