Post subject: Price on a X260
PostPosted: Tue Mar 23, 2004 1:02 am
Hey there people. I found in the local guitar shop, that happily is just around the corner, much to my wife's displeasure :) , an Electra X260 for $250 (US) Expensive? It plays like a good '58 Paul, and has it's own kind of vibe to it, that I really like. No, it's not in pristine shape, it's been around, but not abused. I'm just curious about the going price of the beasties. Any help out there?

from what i have seen go by on ebay, my guess is that 250 is a little on the high side... especially if it doesn't include a case..... i paid 171 for my workingman 2 years ago (an ebay auction and even it came with a cardboard box with latches)... as for condition, it too was a little battered around the edges...

my guess is that around 200 (with a case) would be a fair deal... apii sold his modified workingman x290 not long ago... he will be the guy to ask... or electraman who has bought and sold a number of electras although i don't think he ever had one of this body style

hope that helps...

Hey, thanks a lot Leia. That will definately help. I also checked at mike's Electra site. and found the in the 1980 catalog, the x260 went for $299 new. ($100 xtra with case.) It's weird, but this is the first guitar I've found that reminds me of my old '72 paul custom. It really is a sweet players piece. Again, thanks a lot. :D

hey michael :)

glad i could help... but i am by no means the best at valuing these things... so any advice i offer always comes with a grain of salt... i have been known to pay outrageous prices for a guitar i really  regardless of it's 'market value' (apii was quite appalled at the length i was willing to go to get hold of his omega x240)... bottom line.... it is about what the guitar is worth to you.. but you probably already know that

anyways... best of luck with whatever you decide

I realize this post is way late to the party, but keep in mind the Workingman series was pretty much bolt ons, while the X260 Invicta is a setneck monster! I have one in 9.5/10 condition, and it's a killer guitar. Whatever the market says, I don't find $250 for a nice one high at all. I did get mine for $130 though. :) If I found another for $250 I'd jump on it.

I would have said the price was a little high... then you said 'set neck' and 'feels good'... go for it! remember too that (as EM pointed out recently) the chance to play a guitar in person in a store rather than buying sight unseen on ebay is worth a fair increase in price.

go for it, take pictures, and post em!
