Are those little phoenixes on the knobs? If so, did they come that way stock?

LOL! Good idea! But it'd mainly be a museum of the H-S-H Electras and Westones... there's so many others that are out of my league...

seriously, I don't mean to hog all the fun, just because I sometimes check ebay obsessively. I am in the market for a couple guitars for friends, but if you're looking for a Dynasty PM me and I'll be sure to stay out of the way.

I agree! There's more fun in a project a lot of times, especially when it's something you can piut a lot of yourself in.

Your strat looks great and I can just imagine you've got it massaged to perfection. Maybe if I'm in Toronto sometime I'll beg you for the chance to try it out!

well, the Dynasty in question arrived today... (I mean, I had to do the right thing to satisfy your curiosity, right? the things I do for you guys...)and... WOW!!!

the knobs appear to be standard Electra speed knobs with plastic foil stickers on them (I didn't try peeling them, so I assume they're stickers, they feel like it)... but check out what they say:

Image

I have NEVER seen this on any Electra, has anyone else? I would have to assume they're original, what else could they be?. this is an '83, maybe this suggests that it's an early one of the charcoal Dynasty run.

These stickers are way, way cool. If I can find a reasonably priced foil printing deal, it might be something worth reproing. the rainbow effect seems to be an artifact of the lighting or camera lens, it's not something you can normally see, they just appear to be silver foil (hard to photograph black printing on mirrored foil....

This also means that there's authoritative reason to call the middle pull knob on any H-S-H Matsumoku (the 'middle pickup on' switch) a 'fat switch'. I'd been calling it that anyway, but this makes it official!

Well, now we know! Those stickers are a sweet touch. Looks like you got a pretty good price on her, too!
